Hydrocortisone Cream 1%

Hydrocortisone Cream 1% is a topical corticosteroid used to relieve skin inflammation, redness, itching, and irritation caused by a variety of dermatological conditions. It’s one of the mildest forms of steroid creams available and is often used for short-term treatment of non-infected inflammatory skin conditions.

 

Active Ingredient:

• Hydrocortisone 1% w/w
  A low-potency glucocorticoid that works by suppressing the inflammatory response and immune activity in the skin.

 

How to Use:

1. Clean and dry the affected area.

2. Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected skin 1–2 times daily.

3. Gently rub in until fully absorbed.

4. Wash hands after application (unless hands are being treated).

 Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds, or infected areas unless advised by a healthcare provider.

Duration of Use:

• Short-term use only: Typically not recommended for more than 7 consecutive days without medical advice.

• Prolonged use, especially on the face or in children, can increase the risk of side effects.

 

Precautions:

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes

• Do not use under occlusive dressings (like bandages or wraps) unless instructed

• Not suitable for treating fungal, bacterial, or viral infections unless combined with appropriate antimicrobial therapy

• Children and infants: Use only under medical advice and supervision

• Pregnant or breastfeeding: Use with caution and under doctor’s guidance

 

Possible Side Effects (Usually rare with 1%):

• Skin thinning (if used for long periods)

• Burning, stinging, or irritation at the site of application

• Increased hair growth in treated area

• Stretch marks (with overuse or on delicate skin)

• Allergic reaction (rash, itching, or swelling)

 

Storage:

• Store at room temperature (15–25°C)

• Keep away from direct heat and sunlight

• Keep out of reach of children
